Over the years many magazines have asked me about the nonverbal implications of high heels. I have shared historical reference's. For example high shoes in prerevolutionary France where used to both show status and more practically elevated the upper classes above the filth in the streets. In other cultures the platform shoes worn by women made their step smaller and generally made walking difficult. Some historians said the heels kept women from running away from their husbands or able to sneak out for a quick visit with a man on the side. In any case, the high heels makes it difficult for a woman to walk comfortably and certainly, girls in high heels on a basketball court or running track are merely the stuff of fanciful advertisements rather than reality.
High heels make a woman paradoxically tilt her pelvis forward and stand on her toes as if she is about to run if a woman is about to run from a starting block, but the high heel in back clunks her back to a tiny step. The tilt makes a woman look elongated as well as ready for intimacy. This is attractive to men, and easier for them to catch us!

Shoes

There is a very simple trick to forgetting your troubles.
Wear uncomfortable shoes!
This is an unusually light entry.
II certainly experienced the trick of, "forgetting your troubles by wearing uncomfortable shoes feeling Thursday when I wore my incredibly cute shoes from Nordstoms to do a four hour speech. I felt tall, which is sensation my little five foot one self rarely feels, but once I finished speaking and started walking towards the parking lot all I could think of was my poor little feet. Women have been wearing uncomfortable shoes for eons, and Sex and City ladies made it not just acceptable but a sign of coolness for a woman to spend far too much on shoes. (Reference to the I am the old women who lives in her shoes episode.) I am not a fan of the show Sex in the City, but I am a fan of fashion. In fact, it should be obvious from my opening story, I am not really a shoe girl. I am a cute little suit jacket that will look good on TV girl. But I certainly notice a cute pair being worn by some cute woman who will be complaining about her sore feet later that night. Just look at the shoes on the women on Dancing with the Stars and tell me those woman aren't a little crazy! They are lovely, but crazy. They are talented, but crazy, brave, but crazy.

Whatever you thought of the Spice Girls, they always wore some notable shoes. I Wonder what kind of footwear their reunion will bring.
Finding the perfect pair of shoes for any given outfit or occasion can be a little tricky. Of course, having a team of stylists and the world's top shoe designers at your disposal should help some.

Calm Before

These photos are from yesterday and today- a new outfit for a new adventure. It got pretty cold as of late and the upcoming week is suppose to be rainy. Oh joy! Not really though. As much as I love watching rain drops hit the car windows or drinking gingerbread coffee, I have seasonal affective disorder so I get really under the weather. Plus I don't really own anything waterproof which might be a problem... but I do own two new pairs of shoes.

A couple more photos than usual since Deanna lend her photography skills today.I received these cowboy ankle boots a couple days ago and they were too snug. I had to stretch them out for two days before I even dared put them on. I hate when sizes are wrong. And I hate looking at cool shoes that I can never own- well that's debatable.

So my infatuation with the color white continues. I thought it was appropriate to wear this outfit yesterday since it was decently warm but super windy- thats when the lace up boots come in. One of my biggest dislikes is waking up to a cold morning. I just want to slither back into bed and call it a day.

Body Language Signals that Make You Look Approachable.

Pay attention to your walk. If you take a close look at the way you walk in shoes, you may find that some of your shoes make you walk duck-footed with your toes going outward. Toss the shoes. If you are a woman and are gasping with disbelief at such sacrilegious recommendations keep reading. I don't care if they are really cute and you got them on sale at DSW, get rid of them. Ditto for shoes that make clip clop sounds as you walk. That means most clogs and heavy flip flop shoes. Remember ducks make cute carton figures but not attractive approachable women or men.

I hope everyone had an eventful July 4th! Mine was better than I thought it would be. But I mean, now I'm really really really exhausted so I'm just resting today. I picked up this blazer yesterday afternoon. You probably can't tell from the photos but it has a light pinstripe. I've been searching for the right pinstripe blazer for the longest time and finally found one. I am congratulating myself. And looking at beautiful shoes!

Daylight i'm so absent minded

Blazer & Leather Skirt- Vintage, Cardigan- Thrifted, Tee- Homemade, Shoes- H&M, Bag- Lacoste

Had the yummiest lunch at the mall food court today, shrimp tempura meal. And on top of that, it was sunny and warm! For four inchers, these are pretty comfortable if anyone wants to know. Also, I remember someone asked about how I keep my hair looking the way it does. Truth be told, all I do is comb and side part it. Products I use are Garnier shampoo and conditioner and Silk Therapy oil.
On to delicious shoes from NY Fall 09. I'll have to say that Rodarte's thigh high leather boots really blew my mind. Now I just need to find a couple thousand... And I'm sure most if not all have seen Anna Sui's divine collection. Nothing short of what I expected from her. And she motivated me to rethink cowboy/western boots.
